Billard Community gets behind Flying Santa!
Broome Air Services - Peter Christoudias and his crew – fly charters all around the Kimberley most days of the year, to help people go about their business in the region.
As part of Broome Air Services’ commitment to giving back to the communities of the Kimberley, in 2008 the company created the concept of the “Flying Santa” for the benefit of the Indigenous children in remote Kimberley areas.
Peter knows that the kids of the Kimberley are no different to kids the world over – a gift from Santa is guaranteed to put a smile on their faces, particuarly if Santa flies in especially to their community to hand deliver their Christmas Gift.
Broome Air Services’ initiative – to deliver Christmas presents to ALL kids in the remote communities throughout the Kimberley - is expanding in 2010 when the ‘Flying Santa’ will spend up to three days in the skies of the region visiting more remote communities than ever.
This year the Flying Santa will not only deliver presents to the children. Flying Santa will also bring baskets of fresh fruit and sports clothing and equipment to encourage Kimberley kids to be healthy and active.
Communities visited in 2009: Mulan, Balgo, Billiluna, Halls Creek, Ringer Soak, Turkey Creek, Gibb River, One Arm Point, Lombadina and Beagle Bay.
In support of the Flying Santa, Stephen Victor Snr and Billard Aboriginal Community are asking every person joining the Blank Page Summit Hard Yarn to bring two gifts – one for a boy and a girl – to hand over to Flying Santa’s Treasure Chest at Broome Air Services’ office in the airport on their way through Broome to the Summit. This will ensure that Flying Santa’s journey at Christmas is more successful than ever.
Stay tuned for Flying Santa’s itinerary as he flies around the Kimberley in December 2010!
